Saying of La Jarne located at 8 km from La Rochelle, he left the port of La Rochelle on the ship “La Fortune” around April 1656 and arrived in Québec most likely in July. Pierre has taken root and would have lived the first years in the country somewhere on the Côte de Beaupré, where he was confirmed on February 2, 1660 and at Québec where he was in 1663. In 1669, we find him at the seigneurial Manor in Château-Richer, where he received a concession of land located in Saint-Jean, Île d’Orléans.

It is at Île d’Orléans, parish Sainte-Famille on 17 may 1670 that he married Gabrielle Mineau, born in Fontenay-le-Comte, Poitou, France around 1656, and daughter of Jean Mineau and Jeanne Caillé. Gabrielle arrived in the country with her mother and perhaps his father, as well as with her sister and two brothers around 1669. Everything indicates that Jeanne with her family moved to the Île d’Orléans. Fourteen children were born of the marriage of Peter and Gabrielle. After their marriage, we find them at Île-aux-Grues where in 1672 and 1674 are born the first two children. Around 1675 they are back in Île d’Orléans and they settled permanently on their land in Saint-Jean where are born the twelve other children. Of their fourteen children, five have died in infancy, and one in adulthood.
