\n The 35th Gathering will be held on the 18th-19th and 20th of August 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

A cordial welcome to all at Trois-Rivi\u00e8res for the 35th reunion of Therrien families.<\/p>\n

Sieur de Laviolette founder of Trois-Rivi\u00e8res<\/p><\/div>\n

Trois-Rivi\u00e8res was founded by Sieur de Laviolette July 4, 1634, at the convergence of the Saint-Maurice and the St. Lawrence River. This site was used for many years by aboriginal who came to trade furs with Europeans. Trois-Rivi\u00e8res is the second oldest city in Canada.<\/p>\n

The ancestor Jean Terrien arrived in the country around 1665. At that time Trois-Rivi\u00e8res was still a small fortified village of about 450 people.<\/p>\n

On January 26, 1667 Jean Terrien married Judith Rigault (widow of Fran\u00e7ois Lema\u00eetre). Judith already had 8 children.<\/p>\n

The couple settled in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res on a piece of land that Judith had inherited from her first husband, today we find on the site the church of Notre-Dame-des-Sept-All\u00e9gresses.
\nJean Terrien and Judith Rigault had two boys, one survived, Jean (Baptiste) Terrien born in 1669 and died in 1759 at Nicolet.<\/p>\n

Jean (the ancestor) was a trapper and a fur trader. He was in his environment in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, which was still at that time an important center of the fur trade in New France. Jean Terrien died during the winter 1669-1670.<\/p>\n

Since its foundation Trois-Rivi\u00e8res has grown significantly in terms of education, health, industry, etc … In 2001 the new city of Trois-Rivi\u00e8res merged with Cap-de-la-Madeleine and neighboring towns to form an urban area of \u200b\u200b135,000 inhabitants. Trois-Rivi\u00e8res is a dynamic city, definitely positioned towards the future.<\/p>\n
